Born and raised in a lovely group of Carribean islands the Bahamas and living in the rapidly growing city of Dubai. I write about anything that manages to stimulate my curiosity. You'll come to find that consist mostly of things related to psychology, universal strife and inequality, popular opinoin and current news. I hope you enjoy reading through as much as I enjoy writing :).

We all must have come across a situation were we find someone whose troubles seem to rest on their shoulders like boulders and, despite their efforts, is blatantly obvious by their clearly defined expressions. Or we ourselves may have been the ones with the load on our back. Yet, instead of releasing the pain and confessing to our troubles when the oppurtunity avails itself, we find ourselves concealing the problem and further increasing our pains by releasing those two fragile words ‘I’m Fine’.
Studies have shown that tendencies of denial, withdrawal and self isolation are common reactions when dealing with intensive emotions. Though many people choose to deal with such issues in many different ways. Many people, when experience such emotions, are likely to become extremely detached and uncommunicative. They feel it easier to go through struggles alone usually to avoid worries or the overflow of emotions that can be conjured from the soothing or disturbing words of others.
On the contrary, many deal with such feelings with hyperactivity. They become excessively interactive and enthusiastic. Some theories show that such behavior acts as a distraction from or denial of ones inner suffering. Many people go on the believe that if I can pretend that everythings alright then eventually I won’t be pretending. Or they decide to ignore the facts and try going on with their daily routines as though nothing is wrong.
It is also common to find individuals who over indulge on pleasurable activities such as eating, reading and sleeping. The idea is to cure the pain by stuffing themselves with other forms of happiness.
There are many other ways people choose to numb the pain within, without actually confessing or confiding. Though the question is why? Why do we try so hard at concealing our emotions?
They are many different reasons why we attempt to hide or disguise the pain we feel inside. Yet, in all situations there is a common element - which is fear. There is the fear of seeming too emotional fragile and therefore feeling incompetent to others around. There is the fear of other individuals taking advantage of such weak and vulnerable element’s in ones character. And there is also the fear of the powerless and susceptible image one might sudden feel once towards you once these emotions are revealed. We fear what may happen when such information is released into society.
I’d like to point out another common element in all the above examples and further examples I’ve explored. That is the fear of other people and their capabilities.
